Each ImageBox is custom designed using your images. An elastic latch ensures your prints stay safe inside the ImageBox while in transit.

Lindsay and Shane | Maternity
// June 2nd, 2010 // No Comments » // Maternity, Portrait, Studio
A couple weeks ago, my friend and fellow photographer Lindsay came in for some maternity portraits with her husband Shane. I met Lindsay last year during our Help-Portrait event. She is a talented photographer, and as I found out during the grand opening party, Shane is a talented guitarist. I had to snap a few shots of him playing while Lindsay was changing outfits.
Congratulations Lindsay and Shane!

Tease Salon | Makeover Contest
// May 20th, 2010 // No Comments » // Portrait, Studio
The ladies next door at Tease Salon are having a makeover contest. Each stylist had about 3 hours to do a makeover on their client. I took before and after pictures and posted them to Tease’s Facebook page for voting. Voting continues until Tuesday at 10am. Behind the scenes photos coming after the contest ends. Here are the before and afters:

Letters are up!
// May 8th, 2010 // No Comments » // General, Studio
The studio letters are finally up! The letters arrived about 2 weeks ago, but when they were unpacking them for installation we noticed there was a BIG problem – they sent the wrong color! After a few days of phone calls, we finally got the manufacturer to send the right color. The installers came today and got them up quickly. Looks great, and now I can be seen easily from the bypass.

Isabella – newborn
// February 7th, 2010 // 1 Comment » // Newborn, Portrait, Studio
Friday morning I finally got to meet Isabella, the newest daughter of my friends Yohonna and David. Isabella has two proud big sisters, Chloe and Anneliese. Today’s session was just for Isabella, but look for a session with the entire family soon. Since the new studio is not ready yet, we had to shoot at the old studio, which is really only set up for meetings and presentations. We only had a very small area to work in. We’ll have a lot more room to work next time!
Here she is, sweet Isabella!
This is how we started. She was not too happy about the basket. After putting some soft, fuzzy material on the chair, she settled down and seemed to really enjoy herself. Until the end…
Saturday Studio Update
// January 30th, 2010 // No Comments » // General, Studio
Since construction of the cyc wall curve was completed yesterday, we were able to start the floor section of the cyc. Let me start by saying I could not have done this without the help of my friends. Sven, Mike, and Ben all gave up a Saturday that they could have spent with family to come help me. It’s great to have friends this generous!
Anyway, the workday started about 10:30am. Sven and I met at Lowe’s to pick up the materials we would need: 9 half-inch sheets of plywood, 25 eight-foot 2x4s, some concrete nails, and some ‘bullets.’ Sven has a device that uses what is essentially a .22 blank to fire a nail into concrete. After we load up, we met up with Mike and Ben at the studio.
We realized that before we could begin, we had some prep work to complete (cleaning the large pile of trash the contractors left, sweeping up drywall dust). Mike went to Lowe’s for some cleaning supplies. While he was gone, Sven, Ben, and I learned a good lesson – don’t vacuum up drywall dust with a Shopvac that doesn’t have the filter installed. Mike brought his Shopvac, but none of us knew the filter was missing. On a positive note, it was a beautiful dust cloud! So anyway, Mike returns, we clean up, and begin framing the floor.

After the floor framing was complete, it was time to lay down the plywood. That’s where we learned lesson number 2 – half inch plywood is not very sturdy. It’s cheap, and definitely flimsy. It sagged and cracked when we walked on it. So we loaded the 9 sheets back up and returned to Lowe’s once again. I exchanged the half inch plywood for three quarter inch finished plywood. Much sturdier. And four times more expensive. But well worth it. In no time, we had the plywood placed and began securing it to the framing.

We had a few ‘delays,’ but got everything done in a relatively short period of time. And thanks to yesterday’s winter weather, Mother Nature provided refrigeration for our refreshments.
The results of the day’s work:
Next step: fill in gaps, sand, and paint!
Friday Studio Update
// January 29th, 2010 // No Comments » // General, Studio
The curve of the cyc wall is structurally complete. One more coat of mud and then sanding should complete the curve. Depending on the weather, we may try to get in tomorrow to do the floor.

Tuesday’s Studio Update
// January 26th, 2010 // 1 Comment » // Studio
The walls are up! The construction crew arrived around 8 this morning and got right to work. By 10, the front wall was finished, and when I showed up this evening, all the walls were up.
This is the view from the front door. This will be the lobby/gallery/presentation area.
This picture was taken from the doorway that connects the lobby with the studio area. The shooting area will be to the right of the ladder. The door on the left leads to a storage area and changing room, the other door goes into the computer studio. There is going to be a small kitchen area to the left of the door that leads to the storage area.
This is the view from where the kitchen area will be. The computer studio is to the left, the door on the right leads back to the lobby.
It’s exciting to see the walls up. More updates soon!
Tease Salon

Today, I went with my friend and fellow photographer Mike Houston to shoot some cool hairdos at Tease Salon, located right next door to my new studio. The crew at Tease did an excellent job styling, and the models were so easy to work with. Now, on with the pictures!
